The mission of the LPC Board of Examiners is to protect the public interest by regulating the practice of mental health counseling, the practice of marriage and family therapy, and the use of the titles of Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or any similar term, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC), and Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PLMFT).

Summary:
Ch. 33, Section 3309 and 3311:
The Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners would like to amend the academic requirements for MFT Licensure or Provisional Licensure in Chapter 33, 3309 and 3311 to align with the graduate practicum/internship requirements established by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). Currently, the rule provides specific hour requirements that the applicant must have complete during their qualifying degree which are no longer required by COAMFTE.
