GREAT NEWS !!!

"THE BANK IS NOW OPEN FOR BUSINESS"

As of September 1st, 2005, AASCB has opened the "Credentials Bank."

The American Association of State Counseling Boards (AASCB) has finally opened its Credentials Bank/National Credentials Registry. AASCB has created a Credentials Bank in which LPC’s can maintain ALL pertinent information, such as transcripts, supervisory forms, current licenses, certifications, reference letters, etc.

Why is this important? Have you ever tried to get in touch with a former supervisor – and they’re not around anymore? For those of you who are new to the field, this happens quite frequently. Have you ever tried to get a transcript from your Alma Mater only to find out that it has closed its hallowed doors? Yes, this happens also. Have you ever tried to get required licensure and certification information in order to qualify for an insurance company’s "provider panel"? That normally requires contacting at least 3 to 5 different organizations. So, in order to have one centrally located depository, AASCB has created the Credentials Bank.

This not only helps locate much needed information when you are trying to get licensed in another state, but it can also come in handy when you’re trying to get a promotion, or an additional certification or license later on in your career.

In addition to the Credentials Bank (which is available to all Counselors and Interns), AASCB has also created the NATIONAL CREDENTIALS REGISTRY. The registry simplifies the process for getting licensed in other states for those Licensees who have been licensed for a minimum of 5 years. The simple definition is that those who qualify for the Registry will have a better chance to become licensed in another state – especially if you are "lacking" a particular requirement for the state you are trying to become licensed in.

For more information, and required forms, go to www.aascb.org , follow the menus to the AASCB National Credentials Registry.
