Hurricane Katrina/Rita

The Board understands that Hurricane Katrina and Rita have greatly affected the lives, personal as well as professional, of the people of South Louisiana. It is with this in mind that the LPC Board has decided to allow e-mail and telephone supervision for Counselor Interns and MFT Interns who have been displaced by either of the hurricanes.

The Board will also waive proof of CEU certificates lost in either storm for those who were in the process of being audited or who let their license(s) lapse and now must demonstrate CEU compliance. Licensees should continue to have a professional responsibility to meet their CEU requirements. Any lack of CEU hours caused by the cancellation and/or rescheduling of conferences or workshops will be handled by renewal of license(s) pending receipt of validation of attendance of the missing hours.

Additionaly, the Board will waive the fee for a duplicate license and copy of a file to be sent to another state. All of these exclusions will be in effect until the Board determines that the state of emergency is over.

It is our hope that both counselors/therapists and clients experience a healthy and speedy recovery.
